United Methodist Men

Abraham group

United Methodist Men meets at Edgewater Grille each Wednesday morning at 7:45. They have been chartered as a National affiliate since 1942.

Their current primary focus is to raise money for scholarships given to church members attending college. The program, established in 2000, was named in honor of a recently deceased lay leader, Ken Koch.

Since 1980 they have also teamed with the Pastor and Christian Education Director to select candidates for scholarship grants funded by Mildred Westfall’s trust.  They also support the Saint Andrew Society, ingathering, meals for PB&J kids once a month and live Mother’s Day flowers for all the women of our church, a tradition since they were first chartered.

They have organized Snake Alley Lemonade stands, ice cream socials, spaghetti dinners, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Suppers and helped United Methodist Women with meals for the community and RAGBRAI riders and Old Thrashers Lemonade stands in Mt. Pleasant and other events to raise funds.

UMM welcomes the participation of all interested men of the First United Methodist Church.
